"Monterey's one and only beach front hotel!"

This hotel was an excellent surprise! Unlike a typical Best Western, this hotel really does have the feel of a small, charming beach resort. It is the only hotel to be located directly on the beach in Monterey, even owning the sand right in front of it. They also provide many beach events and activities - Bonfire and whale watching packages are available all year, and during the summer they host outdoor wine receptions, outdoor movies, ect right on the sand. The hotel was extremely stylish - miles above any other Best Western I have seen, and the rooms were spacious (although I only saw an ocean view room, so I am unsure what the courtyard view rooms are like). I was especially impressed with the main lobby area and lobby restaurant, all which featured floor to ceiling windows that look out across the ocean, as well as cool, rustic 'beach' decor and a large fireplace. They also have wonderful meeting spaces for any size event. The room shapes are dynamic and nearly every one has large ocean view windows - very popular for retreats, seminars, receptions, and other 'fun' events. This hotel is a great choice for wedding groups as well, and has 'wedding friendly' policies. Besides the beach, they also have a large, outdoor heated pool, a fitness center, and a convenient sundries shop. In conclusion, I really liked this hotel when I visited - it has an excellent feel to it! - and I would recommend it for any group of ours. They are kid friendly, dog friendly, wedding friendly, event friendly, and very accommodating. The only annoying thing is that they are currently undergoing renovations on all outdoor walkways, which is a bit of an inconvenience for getting around. However, these should be done within a few months' time and they currently host a free 'apology' wine hour in the lobby each evening for guests to apologize for the inconvenience, which I thought was funny.
