The Art Nouveau building (now the Borducan Hotel)was built in 1924 by Anita Angiolini Bregonzio. She wanted to continue the on-site production of Elixir Borducan, the liquor invented by his father David Bregonzio in 1872. The building still offers a very original architectural solution: the ground floor has been transformed in the main restaurant room with a breathtaking veew of Varese and its lakes; on the other 2 floors there are 10 room available.They are all different from each other and put the costumer in a unique atmosphere of elegance and fine details. They are all quite and equipped with every comfort including: LCD TV - Satellite;direct phone;safe-deposit box;bathroom with shower or bath;hairdryer;minibar.Breakfast: breakfast buffet with cereals, fresh fruit, fruit juices, jams,traditional homemade cakes is served in the main restaurant room or on our terrace. Feshly-made eggs, cold meats and cheese are available on request.Breakfast in room service is available.Bar and Restaurant: Our restaurant serves traditional cuisine made ??of special quality products carefully chosen from the best local and international producers.In our Bar you will find delicious homemade cakes as apple strudel, sacher torte, pies and much more.The "Caffè Al Borducan" is suitable for any time of the year: chocolate and a wide selection of teas are available in winter time; milkshakes and homemade ice creams on our terrace will be a pleasure in summertime.Elixir Borducan: hot in winter and on the rocks in summer the Elixir of Borducan is our pride. It is an infusion of orange and herbs invented by Davide Bregonzio in 1872. The story of Davide's life is very fascinating: he was part of Garibaldi "Red Shirt" in 1860; he was also an expert herbalist born in Varese. During a trip to Algeria, he appreciated the local oranges and, on his return to Varese, he decided to create a new liquor, the Elixir Borducan.Its name cames from the arabic name of orange. In 1872 he first opened the "Cafe Borducan" in a different location in Santa Maria del Monte.The secret elixir recipe was transmitted to family members till the present.The Bianchi family (heirs of Bregonzio himself) proudly manages the hotel at the moment.Parties, anniversaries, weddings and romantic dinners as well as Businnes lunch and conference will be organized in the main dining room or in the most intimate fireplace room.
