"Raw sewage backed up into room."

Our toilet was NOT clogged, yet overflowed with raw sewage into our room and got on some of our things. This happened in other rooms on the 1st floor, as well. The GM, Kevin (Karan) Dahyabhai was absolutely adamant about not letting us leave a day early. He was downright rude and impossible to speak to. I would NEVER go back and have not heard back from Hilton regarding my complaint. Very upsetting.

"Terrible Customer Service."

There was an obvious plumbing issue as soon as we arrived. Not only would they not let us check out due to the 7 day minimum, the GM would not even speak to us. Incredibly disappointed that we were forced to stay at this property with zero exit strategy once we all realized there was a serious problem.

"Total Fiasco"

My family checked in to the Hampton Inn Florence Midtown on August 1, 2024 for a baseball tournament. Upon arrival the hotel smelled terrible, especially the elevator and the 3rd and 4th floors. One of the elevators did not work and we were later told there was standing water at the bottom of the elevator shaft that had not been addressed. The hotel tried to mask the smell with automatic air fresheners and were seen pouring bleach down the shaft. Over the next few days several people on our team started experiencing vomiting, migraines, diarrhea. After the 5th night, a city official approached us at out baseball game and asked how our hotel was. We expressed to him our concerns and he told us there was a softball team that left the previous week due to the smell and people falling ill. As parents we were very concerned that something in the hotel was a heath risk. Several parents began calling Hilton/Hampton to express their concerns. The GM of the Hampton, Kevin, refused to talk to parents, he would not return phone calls. I was able to speak to Kevin when a Hilton customer service rep connected me. He told me I was lying, there was no smell and the incident with the softball team a week earlier never happened. He said he would charge me for the full 10 days although my contract stated a I only had to stay for 7 days. After the 6th night sewer water started backing up into people’s bathtubs and a couple of rooms flooded. The smell on the 3rd floor continued to increase to the point it made your nose burn and throat tingle. We had had enough. Another local hotel said they would accommodate us as well as another team staying at the Hampton. When we went to check out, the hotel refused to let us. They said we could leave the property, but could not check out. The lady working the front desk was taking orders from a supervisor on the phone. The supervisor refused to speak to any of us and would not give us his/her name. The lady at the front desk wrote down our room numbers and we went to the other hotel. The next day we received receipts for a 7 night stay, although we only stayed 6. I have been on the phone everyday with Hilton trying to get someone to take responsibility. I keep being told to contact management at the Hampton. We have tried that and he lies and avoids us. We have also contacted put Babe Ruth representative and they have not been very helpful in this situation. Our nightly rates were jacked up to $240/night to cover Babe Ruth’s kick back. We were made to stay at a hotel that gave Babe Ruth a percentage.

"Broken amenities; foul smells; clogged toilets."

The staff was very kind. That's one plus. Aside from that the fitness room stinks and equipment is broken. Ice machine broke on first and second floor. Elevator smells awful and they kept spray airfrehner so every time you step in there is a cloud of chemicals. Had to move rooms from 3rd floor to first because the elevator and 3rd floor smelled like sewage. Kids running around at 1am and extremely loud in lobby late into the night. Toilet keeps burping and they said line was blocked. Also the ice machine flooded on first floor.

Our entire team stayed here for over a week and we could not have picked a better hotel. Everything has been amazing. The staff have gone above and beyond for all of us. Highly recommend this hotel.
